Watauga Falls

The finest bamboo flyrods...

Near the North Carolina and Tennessee border where the Watauga River races on its downhill path to the Watauga Lake, there is an area known by many kayak enthusiasts as "The Watauga Falls". Not too far from there (TOP SECRET location) a tributary feeds into the Watauga River. This tributary holds some wonderful trout.

I could tell you where this location is, but then I would have to kill you...hahahaha. As a matter of fact; I haven't told anyone about this sweet location. Not even my best friend! I can hear him muttering now, as he is driving his pickup up the mountains from the flatlands of Dunn, NC, determined to torture me until I reveal the location.

I developed the "Watauga Falls" bamboo rod from a taper designed by my good friend and "Master" bamboo craftsman, Chris Bogart. I visited Chris in his Shennandoah Valley shop during Memorial Day weekend, 2000. Chris let me cast his original rod, and I was hooked (no pun intended).

Please call us to order a "Watauga Falls" rod.
